My professional involvements as a professor of art history at Shenandoah University include outreach to and support of the visual arts in Winchester. As a three-year board member and art exhibitions committee chair of the Shenandoah Arts Council, a non-profit organization dedicated to the exhibition, presentation, and programming of events and classes that foster the fine arts and arts heritage of the Lower Shenandoah Valley, I worked with SAC’s officers and members to develop an annual sequence of exhibitions that could be implemented, repeated, and varied by future exhibition and programming committees. I also co-edited the SAC quarterly newsletter and shared leadership roles in community arts and cultural events.
I acknowledge and thank the Shenandoah Arts Council for providing a venue and forum for my installations and work from 2004 through 2005.

My SAC exhibitions included Blossoms and Brushstrokes: Art and Apples in the Valley, a juried exhibition celebrating Winchester’s famed Apple Blossom Festival (April-May); Shenandoah Photography: Recent Directions, a contemporary photography show (June-July); a Latino Heritage Month show (September); and a regional holiday craft show (November-December). I also curated a January "Art in the Region" show, and Costume Design in the Shenandoah Valley.
